2021 PHD Student Position in Analytical Food Chemistry at Department of Physiological Chemistry at the University of Vienna

A PhD student position for 3.5 years is available within an FWF funded project at the Department of Physiological Chemistry at the University of Vienna. The neworking group ‘Analytical Food Chemistry and Lipid Oxidation’ is looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate interested in working at the interface of analytical chemistry and cell biology. The project aims at identifying oxidised lipids in food with impact on the cellular lipid metabolism. The PhD student will analyse the generation of oxidised lipids in foods, their fate during in-vitro digestion, absorption and metabolisation as well as their effects on lipid metabolism in cells and organoids. The PhD candidate will identify unknown compounds by means of GC-MS and LC-MS based oxidative lipidomics.
